Wie wir Ihnen bereits im September 2018 mitgeteilt haben, hat Sensata Technologies unseren Partner GIGAVAC in 4. Quartal 2018 aufgekauft. Mit der Übernahme hat GIGAVAC das Angebotsspektrum von Sensata für elektrifizierte Anwendungen in den Bereichen Automobil, Industrie und HVOR erweitert.

Diese Woche wurden wir nun offiziell darüber informiert, dass Sensata die Entscheidung getroffen hat, die GIGAVAC Produktionsstätte in Kalifornien zu schließen und die Fertigung nach Mexiko zu verlagern. Sensata hat die betroffenen GIGAVAC Mitarbeiter über diese Pläne informiert und hat nun auch Kunden und Lieferanten davon in Kenntnis gesetzt.

Die Fertigungsstandorte in Mexiko sind IATF16949- bzw. ISO- und AS-zertifiziert. Anfang 2020 begann in Mexiko bereits die Contactor Produktion für Automotive Kunden von GIGAVAC. Im ersten Quartal 2021 wird Sensata nun mit der Umstellung der gesamten Produktion beginnen. Geplant ist, diese bis zum 3. Quartal des Jahres abgeschlossen zu haben. Als Konsequenz daraus wird Sensata dann auch die Logistik von GIGAVAC nach Fort Worth in Texas bzw. San Diego in Kalifornien verlegen.

In diesem Zusammenhang hat uns Sensata versichert, dass es vorerst keine Änderungen geben wird wie Bestellungen aufgegeben und kommissioniert werden.

Sensata relocates GIGAVAC Production

As we already informed you in September 2018, Sensata Technologies acquired our partner GIGAVAC in the 4th quarter of 2018. With the takeover, GIGAVAC has expanded Sensata's range of products for electrified applications in the automotive, industrial and HVOR sectors.

This week we were officially informed that Sensata has made the decision to close the GIGAVAC production facility in California and relocate production to Mexico. Sensata has informed the GIGAVAC relevant employees about these plans and has now also informed customers and suppliers.

The production sites in Mexico are IATF16949 or ISO and AS certified. Contactor production for automotive customers of GIGAVAC began in Mexico at the beginning of 2020. In the first quarter of 2021, Sensata will begin converting all of its production. The plan is to have this completed by the third quarter of the year. As a consequence, Sensata will also relocate the logistics from GIGAVAC to Fort Worth in Texas and San Diego in California.

In this context, Sensata has assured us that there will be no changes to how orders are placed and picked for the time being.
